Eurail Pass: The best way to get around Europe

Going to Europe is a great opportunity to travel to several cities. Traveling within Europe is so convenient that you can several cities in a fairly short time period instead of just seeing one city. Most people within Europe use the rail system. The trains are relatively inexpensive, convenient and efficient. Train tickets traveling within Europe will definitely be cheaper than flying within Europe, the only exception might be the United Kingdom, but even that depends on your origination and destination cities. Taking the train is convenient for almost anyone because the rail station is centrally located within cities, so there’s no fuss about how to get to and from the airport. Trains are fairly frequent and for the most part depart and arrive on time. There will be occasional delays, but these occur less frequent than at the airport just because weather does not play a critical part for the journey.

The train will give you an opportunity to admire the landscape of the country. Can you imagine just strolling around the Swiss Alps? You can’t just walk all over the mountains (unless you’re extremely athletic and would like a new challenge), but you can travel around them when you’re on the train. Scenery plays a large part in your train travel; you can truly relax while not wasting any precious time because you’ll be traveling. The time that was meant for traveling can now be used for landscape admiration as well. You will not see as much of the country otherwise; the scenery on a plane only consists of the sky. In addition to seeing more of the country, you would probably be able to enjoy the company of the natives. All the locals prefer the train as their mode of transportation. You have the duration of the journey to make some new friends and maybe you’ll have a tour guide when you arrive at your destination!

Train Fare Reductions

The main train fare discount that applies is the youth discount. The Europeans encourage traveling while you’re young. So if you’re under twenty-six, you’ll qualify for more than just a train fare discount, ask each time you need to buy tickets for anything just in case there is a discount. The Europass and Eurailpass offer a “youth” pass at a discounted price, however this will generally be more expensive than just getting the youth discount at the train station. Youth discounts at the station are more significant than when you purchase a pass. Tickets
